Eighth Grader Maya Hess won the Lake County Bar Association Law Day Essay Contest
Eighth Grader Maya Hess was recognized for her essay about the 14th Amendment. She submitted this essay to the Lake County Bar Association - the theme this year was "The 14th Amendment: Transforming American Democracy." Maya's essay was included in the program for the 41st annual Law Day Breakfast held in Mentor at the LaMalfa Center. She was the only middle school student in Lake County to be recognized. Only three students total in Lake County received recognition and awards at the Law Day Breakfast. Maya was able to learn about the history of the 14th amendment and its purpose in our democracy. She also met Keynote Speaker and Ohio Supreme Court Justice William M. O'Neill. Congratulations to Maya! We are very proud of your accomplishment! Click here to read her essay.
