This week in Miss Markiewicz's new class "Scientific Investigations," students were able to explore a crime scene in the chem lab! In each scene, students were to identify four pieces of evidence, mark them with evidence markers, photograph the scene, and then measure out the scene. They had to create a detailed crime scene sketch after finishing their measurements and, finally, they were able to "bag and tag" their evidence.
The next day, a different group had to recreate the scene using their data! This was a great exercise for students to understand the importance of good qualitative and quantitative measurement skills and documentation in the sciences. We are looking forward to completing many more investigation-based labs!
