Azlyn Nelson wins 1st place in illustrated poetry contest 4/29/20

⚓️BIG NEWS!! Skippers!!⚓️

Each year as part of Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW), American Chemical Society (ACS) sponsors an illustrated poem contest for K-12 students.

Entries are judged based upon relevance to and incorporation of the yearly theme (Protecting Our Planet through Chemistry), word choice and imagery, colorful artwork, adherence to poem style, originality and creativity, and overall presentation.

FHS 8th Grade student Azlyn Nelson competed in the poetry contest this spring and WON 🎉 1st place!! 🥇

👉This was part of her poetry project which she completed for English 1 and Science in the Personalized Learning Program this year. 👈

She won $200 for her submission for the CCEW Poetry Contest. She was recognized publicly tonight at the ACS Zoom Meeting online.
