Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage Welcomes FHS 8th Graders 12/12/18
8th grade students went to the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage in Beachwood on Dec. 12. They met Holocaust survivor Helen Marks. She was born in 1941 and went into hiding during the Holocaust. Her father was in Auschwitz and lived through it. After the war her family was reunited and moved to America. Students participated in a guided tour of the museum on the "stop the hate" tour. Students are writing essays in their English classes called "stop the hate." They learned that hatred is not something you are born with - you are taught to hate. Students discussed how to stand up for someone when they may witness something that isn't right. It was a truly educational experience. This will be the last generation of children to meet Holocaust survivors.
