Summer Zoology Fun With Mr. Yaussy
This past summer, high school students were given the opportunity to take am elective Zoology course. This course focused on the diversity of animal life on the planet, and incorporated a variety of hands-on and behind-the-scenes experiences. Students got to talk with scientists from the Fairport ODNR Station and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History to learn about professions in the field. At the Akron Zoo and Columbus Zoo, they were able to peek behind the enclosures to where the grizzly bears sleep in Akron, and Mr. Yaussy was slightly attacked by a pelican in Columbus. There was even a visit from the Lake Metroparks with an opossum, a red-tailed hawk, a chicken, and a sheep.
