Covid Update Letter 8/26/21
The 2021-22 school year is underway. Even though the start of the school year has always been a time of anticipation, enthusiasm, and excitement, this year was special! I am happy to report that FHEVS is back to in-person learning and off to a great start. There seems to be an extra element of energy and momentum present at McKinley and Harding. I want to give a big THANK YOU to our staff for all their efforts to start this year in a smooth, efficient way. Teachers have worked hard to get their rooms organized and ready for our students. Office and custodial staff have also worked extra hard in getting the buildings clean and ready for a great school year.
School Districts across the country have been placed in the middle of a difficult and vigorously debated issue with respect to mask mandates at school. Every day, we receive phone calls and emails from parents and community members offering different, often opposing, views about masking in our schools. It is important to note that as of now, local and state health officials have not issued an order requiring face masks in schools, as they did last school year. Various local, state and federal health agencies and officials have recommended, though not required, masks to be worn in schools. Fairport Harbor Schools are following suit and recommending but not requiring masks.
