James Cardina
Jim Cardina a 1955 graduate of Harding was a member of the football and baseball teams as well as a drama department participant. After 28 years working for the Lake County Sheriff's Department he retired as a lieutenant and worked as a Lake County Jail Administrator. He served on the Fairport Harbor Village Council, on St. Anthony's Parish Council, and President of the Fairport Parents' Who Care. As a supporter of the Fairport Mardi Gras since 1961 he served on several committees and as president and vice president. As an original member of the Fairport High School Baseball/Softball Committee he worked to build the East Street Baseball and Softball Field that is named for him. He was a member of the Fairport Athletic Boosters and was a football volunteer assistant taking films of all games. Jim was the FHS Assistant Softball Coach and also coached Painesville Ponytail All Star Teams, who won several championships; was president and coached Fairport Ponytail softball teams and all-star teams that won several tournaments. He also coached tournament winning traveling women's softball teams. He was treasurer and president of the Fairport Harbor Port Authority and member of the Fairport Senior Citizens and the Tourism Council. He is still very active his community.
