This week in Miss Markiewicz's new class "Scientific Investigations," students were able to explore a crime scene in the chem lab! In each scene, students were to identify four pieces of evidence, mark them with evidence markers, photograph the scene, and then measure out the scene. They had to create a detailed crime scene sketch after finishing their measurements and finally, they were able to "bag and tag" their evidence.
The next day, a different group had to recreate the scene using their data! This was a great exercise for students to understand the importance of good qualitative and quantitative measurement skills and documentation in the sciences. We are looking forward to completing many more investigation-based labs!
Check out @theportreport on YouTube to see Harding Students videos. They include interviews with staff, updates on the construction site, and many other event videos! The students film, edit, and post all on their own, this is a part of the media class taught by Mrs. Knight.

McKinley Elementary & Harding MS/HS supporting Jack Sawyer.
Jack Sawyer, a student from Mentor High School, has been battling an aggressive cancer over the last 18 months. Jack and his family made a courageous decision to forgo further cancer treatment as they have exhausted all possible treatments. Many area school districts are showing support by wearing yellow to school and athletic events this Friday. I would like for all Skippers to also show our support, care and concern for Jack in his final weeks of life. Friday we will honor Jack and be #JBSSTRONG day. We ask everyone to wear YELLOW to show our support for Jack
