What do I do if my child has a food allergy?

At McKinley, we take all food allergies and intolerances very seriously. If your child has a food allergy or special food needs please alert the office immediately. You can download an Allergy Plan form from our school website HERE and return it to the school office. There is also a list of Safe Snacks that you can download from snacksafely.com

We are an Allergy Aware school. This means that we do not permit students to share snacks or food. We also provide an allergy-free table for students who need a separate location to eat. Staff will ensure that all student lunches permitted at the allergy-free table do not contain the allergens indicated by the parent(s).

No homemade treats will be permitted to be passed out in the classroom.  All party birthday treats will need to be store-bought and prepackaged.

Updated Breakfast and Lunch Prices

Free Breakfast and Lunch for all students.

Students may purchase "extras" (drinks, snacks, additional entrees) with cash/check or money on IC account. No extras may be charged.

Ms. Becky at Harding has worked hard to develop a rapport with the students and offer a variety of choices at breakfast and lunch each day. Participation numbers are up and families seem to be taking advantage of the lunch program in the district. It is our goal to provide students with healthy, enjoyable options for the meals they eat at school.

We want to make parents aware of the payment and charge policy at the high school so everyone is informed going forward. There is no charging of a la carte items. Breakfast and lunch are served free of charge.

Press Release regarding free breakfast and lunch 6/14/24

Free and Reduced-Price Meals

Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)

The  Fairport Harbor Exempted Village School District announced today a change to its policy for serving meals to children served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2024/2025 school year. Schools qualifying to operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) provide breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This new approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.

FREE HEALTH CARE: Families with children eligible for school meals may be eligible for FREE health care coverage through Medicaid and/or Ohio’s Healthy Start & Healthy Families programs. These programs include coverage for doctor visits, immunizations, physicals, prescriptions, dental, vision, mental health, substance abuse, and more. Please call 1-800-324-8680 for more information or to request an application. Information can also be found on the web at http://jfs.ohio.gov/ohp/consumers/familychild.stm. Anyone who has an Ohio Medicaid card is already receiving these services.
