At McKinley Elementary, we believe that kindergarten should raise the bar on student readiness! Our classes are designed to go beyond the basic kindergarten curriculum, preparing our students to be successful learners and citizens. Why Attend Screening? Kindergarten screening allows the teachers (and parents) to assess a child's skills before entering kindergarten. Through a series of fun but informative tasks, we can determine a child's developmental readiness for the school-age setting. We will provide you with an individualized report of your child's skill progression, including ideas and activities, to strengthen academic and social skills.

To be eligible for Kindergarten, a student must turn five (5) years old by August 20, 2026.

Entrance Age  (Mandatory Kindergarten)

Each child who is five years of age on or before the first day of instruction of the school year of admittance is eligible to enroll in kindergarten. Each child who is six years of age on or before September 30 and who has successfully completed kindergarten is eligible to enroll in the first grade.  Click HERE to review the Early Entrance to Kindergarten procedure.
