College Credit Plus Information
4/28/20- Message from Mrs. Jurick
IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW REGARDING LAKELANDS CCP PLACEMENT TEST!!
All CCP placement testing is moving to a remote testing format and will be available early May. Students may fill out their testing request on Lakeland's College Credit Plus page www.lakelandcc.edu/ccp. This page contains important CCP information including the CCP application. Students are required to submit their Lakeland application prior to scheduling a placement test. Once on the CCP page, scroll to Criteria for Participation #2 CCP application https://lkn.lakelandcc.edu/public/apply/. Registration for the placement test can be found under #4 or by clicking: https://myportal.lakelandcc.edu/web/about/schedule-test-ccp. Upon completion of the registration, CCP Students are contacted to schedule their exam and be given preliminary instructions.
Due to a delay in remote testing availability, students will only be permitted a single attempt during the first testing session. Retesting will not be permitted until all applicants have had the chance to test. It is essential that students adequately prepare for the placement test to achieve the best score possible. The learning center has several free resources for students to prepare to do their best on Lakeland's placement test, The Next-Gen ACCUPLACER. Please review all the options by following this link to the test preparation page: http://lakelandcc.edu/web/about/test-prep. For students who wish to create an account to access the Longsdale ACCUPLACER Online Course and Practice Tests, you will need to register using the following information:
School Number: 63385
School Key: collegesuccess
All CCP orientation sessions are being moved to an online format using Blackboard and will be available starting in May. We will be contacting admitted students once the online orientation is available. CCP orientation is required for students and parents before registration.
4/1/20-Messenger from Mrs. Jurick (updated 4/15/20)
This information is intended for students who have NOT yet been admitted to the College Credit Plus program, but intend to participate during the 2020-2021 school year.
With the current restrictions, Lakeland and Lake Erie College are not able to schedule placement exams for prospective students. The Ohio Department of Education has recently released revised guidance for participation.
1. The Intent to participate deadline has been extended to May 1, 2020. Please see attached for the Intent to participate.
2. Depending on the length of the pandemic, colleges cannot test new students for fall term eligibility and admission consideration. In order to meet student eligibility requirements, a student shall have an overall high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, if that prospective College Credit Plus (CCP) student has not had the opportunity to complete an assessment exam due to this emergency.
3. If a prospective CCP student had previously completed an assessment exam and did not meet student eligibility requirements based on those scores, a college can consider that student is eligible if the student has an overall high school grade point average of 3.0.
4. The institution of higher education still has the opportunity to use institutional standards for admission decisions and placement into courses.
Just a quick update regarding the College Credit Plus program. If your student is looking to enroll in college classes next year, the colleges are currently working on an option to give students a placement test remotely. More information should be coming soon. If students took the test and did not pass, they will have an option to take it again. If students had not yet tested, they will be able to. If at any time you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Jurick at email@example.com.
3/30/20Good Morning CCP Students,Considering the current COVID-19 pandemic and school closures/remote learning, many colleges want to give the option for students to have Credit/No Credit or Pass/Fail (or some other similarly named grade) on a college transcript in lieu of a final letter grade. Before making this decision, please understand that a P/F grade may have future implications on weighted grading and class rank, NCAA eligibility, OHSAA eligibility, and certain graduation seals that require a grade of B or better. Please do not withdraw from any courses at this time. This could impact current or future graduation. Also, if you are continuing with CCP next year, I will need a new Intent Form from you. The deadline is being extended to May 1, 2020. I have it attached for you. Please complete it and scan it back to me. (Helpful Tool I just learned about...If you have an iPhone, you can use your notes app to scan documents!! This has been a life changer for me!!)Let me know if you need anything!Mrs. Jurick
