January of 2026 marked the arrival of the new campus and 2 new Fairport Harbor Schools 9-passenger vans. 
The District plans to use these vans to support our activities and sports programs.
District staff will start training to become van-certified drivers.
Step-by-Step Checklist to become a Van Certified Driver
  1. Complete the Google form to begin
  2. Complete 4-hour Van Training Course through Ashtabula County ESC & pass test
  3. Background check/fingerprints- Set Up in Rapback (Cost of fingerprinting is at your expense)
  4. BMV abstract
  5. Drug testing
  6. T8 physical (annual)
  7. Training (annual in-service, bloodborne, emergency procedures, local policy and procedures, PBIS, etc)
  8. Driving & Pre-Trip Evaluation (w/Natalie Rock)
  9. T9- is submitted to receive van driving certificate

Van Driver Course and Testing Information

Fairport Harbor Schools Van Certification Course & Testing is completed through the Ashtabula County ESC Preservice Driver Program

Rapback

Rapback (Retained Applicant Fingerprint Database) is a system for continuous criminal record monitoring, often used by states like Ohio and the FBI, which alerts employers when an enrolled individual is arrested or convicted of a new crime.
